This Foundation was established in the name and memory of Gerry Nevins, a Firefighter who perished on September 11, 2001. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide financial assistance (for a three month period) to widows/widowers of a recently deceased spouse. Applicants must reside in Rockland or Orange County, New York.
The following is a list of guidelines for the qualifications of a recipient . . .
- Intended for a spouse with dependent children under the age of 21.
- Financial aid for a period of up to an including three months immediately following spouse’s passing. Applications must be filed within six months of loss.
- Applicant needs to show legal marriage certificate indicating relationship to deceased.
- Expenses for mortgage or rent will be provided. Credit card bills will not be covered. All bills will be decided upon at the Foundation Members discretion.
- The maximum monthly allowance is not to exceed $3,000.00. This amount will be based on the Foundation Members decision.
- The maximum allowable payment to one applicant will be $9,000.00, with the final amount of distribution being the sole discretion of the Foundation Members.
- All pertinent documents will be required, including birth, marriage and death certificates and a copy of W-2 to show child’s dependency and any other documents that the Foundation Members see fit to request. All requests for payments must be supported by appropriate and official documents.
- A one time only application will need to be provided. Applications are available upon request.
